Margie Barker

Margie Barker is from Washington on the Brazos. Barker’s love of the flora and fauna of her native Texas shines through in her meticulously executed paintings. A realist, Margie recreates the natural habitat of her subjects. Her paintings are mostly realistic and many scenes include streams with people or wildlife, old buildings, wild flowers, livestock, and the Texas Hill Country. Proficient in watercolor and oil, acrylic remains Margie’s favored medium in expressing her unique insight into the bountiful ever changing state she calls home.

Margie gives painting demonstrations and has taught classes throughout South Texas. Her work has been sold in galleries across the Southwest from Arizona to Louisiana as well as across Texas from Dallas to South Padre Island. Her paintings have won a host of awards, including Best of Show at the San Antonio River Art Show, she is listed in Artist of Texas, Vol. II, and her work has also been exhibited at the San Antonio Art League Museum.
